From the 4th to the 10th of September 2025, Algeria is playing host to the 4th Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025), a landmark event co-organised by Afreximbank, the African Union Commission and the AfCFTA Secretariat. Under the theme “A Gateway to New Opportunties”, this week-long fair opens with strong support from continental leaders, inspiring a renewed commitment to the African Continental Free Trade Area’s (AfCFTA) vision of deeper integration.
IATF 2025 is expected to attract over 2,000 exhibitors, delegations from more than 140 counties and roughly 35,000 visitors. Organisers anticipate concluding trade and investment deals totalling around US $44 billion, underscoring the fair’s growing economic significance. The event features key elements such as Country and Company Pavilions, high-level policy dialogues, Creative Africa Nexus (CANEX), the African Automotive Show and specialised programs for youth and women entrepreneurs – all designed to stimulate innovation, industrialisation and inclusive growth.
The fair’s opening ceremony saw Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune urging African nations to strengthen intra-continental trade and bolster resilience against global disruptions. Echoing this message, Afreximbank’s leadership and the AU reaffirmed IATF’s role as a vital catalyst for economic independence, entrepreneurial growth and industrial transportation across Africa. This bit of commentary highlights the fair’s transformative role, not just a marketplace, but as a stage for shaping Africa’s economic future.
Originally launched in 2019 in Cairo (Egypt), the IATF has evolved into Africa’s premier trade and investment rendez-vous, consistently showcasing continental strengths and catalysing high-value deals – with past editions achieving nearly US $43 billion in commitments. This 2025 edition builds on that legacy, leveraging strategic sectors such as innovation, green industrialisation, value addition and creative industries to dismantle trade barriers and harness Africa’s full economic potential under the AfCFTA banner.
