What is Organisation Behaviour (OB)?

10 Nov, 2021

Most people are born and educated in organisations, earn their material wealth from organisations and also end their lives as members of organisations.   Many of our life activities are organised through organisations whether governmental or non-governmental, and many individuals spend the most enjoyable days of their lives working in organisations.  Because organisations have a strong impact on our lives, it is therefore necessary to get to know these organisations, and how they work, and most importantly how their outputs are being processed and delivered?  Thus it becomes clear how important Organisational Behavior (OB) is?

OB focuses on understanding and directing the behavior and interactions of the human element at work, which is the most important production element in the organisation.  Success of organisations depend on the success of activating the human element and improving its performance.  Besides this importance, we must acknowledge the difficulty of managing the human behavior.

The science of OB attempts to provide a framework for how to interpret and analyse human behavior with the aim of either predicting or controlling it in the future.   Behavior in this sense includes everything that an individual emits in terms of movement, thinking, linguistic behavior, feelings, emotions or perception.
